BIG CONGRATULATIONS to the 2009 Emerald Cup Champion John Papadopoulos and his crew – Brianna Bale. The Southern Californian has finally wrested the Cup away from Fern Ridge, but I imagine that he will back to defend his fleeting title next year, so never fear! His amazing performance, however, will be much harder to repeat – 6 points in 6 races! BIGGER CONGRATULATIONS to the 2009 Wavelength 24 Class Champion Ryan Mitchell and his intrepid crew on the aptly named Your Daddy! Ryan grabbed the cup by a mere four points out of the hands of his infamous father, Dean Mitchell on Falcor – the little red boat that has given us all so much trouble over the years. All of the results are available through the race results tab to the left and pictures will be available shortly – check back often to see when they’re up! Our brand-new this year cash door prize was awarded to an out-of-towner as well – Garrett Johns of Anacortes. Here’s hoping that he’ll save the money for gas to come down again next year! Thank you to all the amazing volunteers (Denise Murschel and Karen Macleod to name two) who made this happen on land, and all the fantastic boats who gave us the best regatta in years on the water! Rich Johnson and Dave Brown put together an ‘all-star’ crew to run the races and make sure that everything was as smooth as could be; and a warm welcome and thank you to the fabulous house boat that housed our finish crew all weekend! We managed to raise $425 for Kevin Hansen and the World Wheelchair Foundation with the donation of a 24x36 canvas print that Jim Hill snagged in a ‘well-fought’ auction on Saturday night. Thank you to Tom Sachse and his fabulous artwork! We still have t-shirts, flags and water bottles available; we also have a limited number of race packets (treated sail material with a laminated race planner and grease pencil).
